FRESH HEADS FARM SHOP

  • Keeping it Local

When we started Fresh Heads we wanted a space to make our greens available to our customers, but as we considered opening a shop we noticed how much our community was missing access to local food. Fresh Heads took on new significance; we wanted to create a space where we could bring together local Ontario farms near us, and make local farmed food accessible both geographically and monetarily for our community. Check us out throughout the year to explore the locally grown produce of our fellow family farms and the goods of our community’s small businesses.

  • Keeping it Sustainable

We started an aquaponics farm in response to the desperate need for more sustainable farming practices. Ontario is harsh to farming; climate limitations means we need to import much of our food over the cold months. Making locally farmed food available all year enables our community to limit their contribution to the unsustainable practices of our major food production systems like transport, monocropping, GMOs, fossil fuel exhaustion, and harsh chemical and pesticide use.

  • Keeping it Accessible

Eating local and eco-friendly doesn’t have to come at a premium cost. We try wherever we can to compete or even beat the prices of major grocery stores. Sometimes avoiding import costs and shortening the supply chain can save you money! Plus we are not seasonally restricted, we stay open and offer local goods all year so you always have access to locally farmed food.

What’s in Store

Most of our greens we grow year round, but we do rotate our selection so we can offer more stuff, try new things, and keep it fresh! Produce we get from other farms is available when in season, check back throughout the year for new and different things!
