A little about us...

We are a completely family run business.

Built by dad (Rutherford) and amazing family friends (Gary), supported by Grandma (Marlene) and mom (Adele), and managed entirely by siblings Pierce and Amy, we made Ontario Sustainable Agriculture and our farm shop , Fresh Heads, from the ground up.

Farming in a single greenhouse, we try to grow everything we can think of.

Not everything works, but we like to try.

But, of course, our specialty is lettuce (that actually tastes good).

    THE REST OF THE TEAM

Pierce started OSA in the hopes of creating something new and innovative. He wanted to change the nature of farming into something that could be sustained for generations to come. And so he got us all together and convinced us an aquaponics farm was the way to go.

Four years of planning, one year of building, and two years of production later, here we are; growing upwards of 80,000 vegetables in our single 4,800 square foot greenhouse.

And we aren’t stopping there! Amy joined the team in 2021 and has made it her goal to bring Pierce’s dream of truly sustainable, zero waste farming to life!

As of October 27th 2022, we opened our shop, Fresh Heads Farm Shop, to make our food and the locally grown food of our fellow family farms accessible to our Markham community all year long!

It’s been a lot of work, and a lot of ups and downs so far, and we know it isn’t over yet! We keep pushing forward in the hopes of bringing sustainable farming (and delicious food) to our community.
